Just 10 minutes from our Brittany holiday cottage  with heated swimming pool and gym near Baud we have recently discovered a wonderful restaurant the Au Coin du Feu steak house.

Its a beautiful looking restaurant with its own gardens for children to play in and a wonderful terrace in which to eat alfresco. 

They offer some mouth watering steaks cooked over an open wood fire and some of the best chips I have ever tasted. My normal order being the 300 gram entrecote steak and its the first time ever I have been asked if I want my blue steak served hot or cold which for me really shows the level of attention given by the chef. 

They offer a lunch menu from € 11.50 and a childrens menu for € 8.50 (For those under 12 years.) We started recommending the restaurant to our guest over the last 2 seasons and all have said what a wonderful meal they had and what a great place.

You find when staying at either La Forge or La veille maison there is a grand choice of fine restaurants to enjoy all within easy reach.

From our family at the  Brittany holiday cottage with private heated swimming pool and gym near Baud we wish everyone a happy new year.

We are looking forward to the year ahead - we have already broken 2014 record of having 8 weeks booked before Christmas for the following year by having 10 weeks booked before Christmas for the 2016 season.

We are opening the swimming pool at the start of March to be ready for the 12th and then the pool will be offered on a private basis for guest staying in La Forge from 12th March through to the May half term and again in September till the first or second week of October depending on demand.

As an early booking offer book a week in our cottage for just £399 per week from the 12th March until 21st May reduced from £549 or book 2 weeks for £750.

La Veille Maison will be available from 21st May until the start of September.

Having a rugged coast line with stunning beaches - Brittany not only offers great days out for everyone but its also famous for its bounty of fresh sea food to enjoy and the coast is just 25 minutes from our Brittany holiday cottage with private heated pool and gym.

From fresh oysters, mussels and chips to a full sea food platter there is plenty to choose from.

Guest staying at either La Forge or La Veille maison have an abundant choice of great restaurants to choose from and Naomi and I are always at hand to make recommendations.

Just 20 minutes away from La Forge and La Veille Maison is Lanester which is just outside of Lorient and last night we tried a new Chinese restaurant Le Palace D'Asie.

At just 16.50 euro's per head it's great value for money and the décor, atmosphere and food were great, the main thing that stood out for me was that every table had its own grill to allow you to cook your own food at the table with a large variety of raw meats, vegetables and sea food or to take those ingredients to the wok chef to cook them for you with a choice of 8 different sauces. 

In addition to all the raw ingredients there is a buffet of cooked dishes to choose from in addition to a dessert    table.

For guest staying at the Brittany holiday cottage with heated swimming pool and gym we now offer a special Filipino gourmet night to enjoy finishing with a royal fan dance.

Guest staying in either La Forge or La Veille Maison can order a gourmet night at any time during there holiday, a menu will follow soon.

Its our aim to always offer that little bit extra for guest staying at the holiday cottages and we hope many will enjoy the gourmet night along with the whole holiday experience.

Just 3 miles from the Brittany holiday cottage with private swimming pool is the market town of Baud, this Christmas my parents and daughter enjoyed the festivities in France with me.

For New years eve I booked a table at La Cheval Blanc a great restaurant within Baud just 5 min from La Forge and La Veille Maison. My father and I enjoyed a dozen oysters each which were really lovely.

Brittany Holiday Cottage with Pool

Just 3 minutes from the Brittany holiday cottage with pool is an extremely good Pizzeria ' La Gigale' situated in Camors. Its run by a husband and wife team, with Stephanie looking after the service and providing a very warm welcome while her husband creates some wonderful pizza's back in the kitchen.

The restaurant provides some great tasty thin based pizza's that can be eaten within or taken away.

Opening hours are:

September till June: Monday closed,Tuesday and Wednesday lunch time only,Thursday, Friday and Saturday open for lunch and evening while Sunday just the evening.

July & August:Monday closed, Tuesday through too Saturday lunch and evening service, Sunday evening only.


I'm only recommending restaurants that I regularly eat at because the food is always good and the service excellent. Its all part of making your stay at the holiday cottage a great time away.

Le Citron Vert is a Bar-Restaurant located just 3 miles from the Brittany Holiday cottage with pool in the market town of Baud. Its located behind the church near the public swimming pool.

When ever I have friends stay with me I have always popped down too Le Citron Vert for a bite to eat or for a drink and a game of pool in the Bar area. The restaurant also has a terrace area to eat alfresco of to enjoy a drink.

Ive personally tried all the main course dishes over my time at the Brittany holiday cottage and enjoyed them all;

Entrecote: ( Sauces aux choix) 13.00 euros

Sauces: Beurre Maitre d'hotel, au poivre vert ou roquefort

Escalope de dinde a la creme champignon 11.50 euros

Cotelettes d'agneau parfume au romarin 13.00 euros

Magret de canard et sa sauce aux airelles 13.00 euros

All the dishes are accompanied with fries and salad

In addition to the main courses there are 4 different salads for starters and as expected from a creperie a wide choice of sweet and savory crepes plus a menu for children at 6.50 euros

The new owner of the restaurant Frank is extremely welcoming and will ensure you enjoy a nice meal at his restaurant, cooked by his wife, during your stay at La Forge Brittany holiday cottage.
