Today at the Brittany holiday cottage with private heated pool I began redecorating the master bedroom in La Forge.

It's lovely seeing how the other double bedroom looks now after painting that bedroom earlier in the week and I'm looking forward to taking some new pictures once the work is finished.

La Forge Brittany holiday cottage is based in the lovely hamlet of Kerbourbon just 3 miles from the market town of Baud and is ideally situated to explore the best of southern Brittany.

The holiday cottage is available to rent all year and the swimming pool will be opening next week so that its ready for the start of April. During the months of April and May the swimming pool at the holiday cottage is heated and offered on a private basis.

Yesterday at the Brittany holiday cottage with heated swimming pool the paint brushes came out to repaint one of the double bedrooms changing the walls from pink to white.

Every year I always try to revamp the holiday cottage keeping it fresh and clean for the guest to enjoy - it's always nice for returning guest to see what changes have been made.

Our intention is to paint both double bedrooms in La Forge over the next week and look forward to seeing the walls painted white as a contrast to all the exposed beams within each bedroom.

As we watched television the other night at the Brittany holiday cottage with private pool and gym Naomi began dancing to the music on TV which then inspired this video.



At 36 weeks pregnant we are now getting very excited about the arrival of young James.

Throughout her pregnancy Naomi has kept fit through following Yoga for pregnancy exercise routines, taking up to 4 mile walks in the surrounding countryside and using the free weights gym at the Brittany holiday cottage.

Lately as the pregnancy progresses the walking has reduced but she still exercises most days and when ever she gets checked at the hospital her blood pressure readings are very good.  

The gym is available for all guest over 14 years of age staying at either La Forge or La Veille Maison to use and offers flexibility to cater for any levels.

The weather over the last 4 days at the Brittany holiday cottage with private pool and gym has been warm and bright.for our guest staying in La Forge.

The spring bulbs are all emerging from the pots and should be in fall bloom for the end of March when we open the pool at the holiday cottage for guest to enjoy on a private basis.

April always seems to be a great month for catching some early sun in Brittany and its a great time to enjoy the heated swimming pool.

Today our new guest arrived at the Brittany holiday cottage with heated pool and gym driving down from Roscoff which is just over a 2 hour drive from La Forge.

The guest are from Cornwall and took advantage of our short stay rental rates to enjoy 4 nights at the Brittany holiday cottage. In addition to the discounted rental they also received the 20% discount on their Brittany ferry crossing by booking the holiday cottage.

Enjoying a holiday in Brittany during the low season is a great time to explore France away from all the tourist and to simply enjoy the cozy setting of La Forge with its exposed beams and wood burning stove.

Today at the Brittany holiday cottage with private heated pool and gym we received our first booking from Belgium for this season.

La Forge  Brittany holiday cottage attracts guest from the UK, Holland and Belgium and its lovely for us to meet people from different countries. It's lovely to have an international clientele.

We advertise our Brittany holiday cottages in the UK and in Holland and this year we have noticed more enquiries being generated from internet searches.

La Forge is available to rent all year where as La Veille Maison is available from the end of May until the start of September.

With the swimming pool closing at the end of September at the Brittany holiday cottage La Forge, last year in the last week of operation the pool pump died on us so we started our research this week to find another.

The last pump was bought from a swimming pool retailer near Lorient for 550 euro a ESPA Silver 12 meter pool pump, since that purchase 3 years ago I've established how expensive a lot of retailers are compared to internet purchases but was absolutely gobsmacked to see how cheap I found it on the internet......259 euro with free delivery.

Just shows how much mark up there is! I've already said to Naomi that at that price we might as well buy 2 so we have a spare.

April and May weather in Brittany at the Brittany holiday cottage with private pool

During April and May the weather in Brittany can be really nice at the Brittany holiday cottage with private pool.

From March on wards we notice a difference in the weather as spring comes to life here in Brittany, its warm enough to sun bath in the garden and enjoy the heated swimming pool on a private basis.

The swimming pool is opened at the start of March with the heater being switched on two weeks in to March ready for the start of April for guest to enjoy at our Brittany holiday cottage.

The months of April and May are a great time to visit Brittany because not only can you enjoy some great weather but we also offer some really cheap deals to enjoy La Forge.

Today at the Brittany holiday cottage with private pool and gym I'm going to restart hitting the gym! Both Naomi and I caught colds when we popped over to the UK for Christmas and its taken up till this week to feel fit enough to get back in to training.

This morning we went for a 2 mile walk, Naomi did well as she only has 6 weeks now before young James arrives. It was a bright sunny day and we enjoyed seeing how the surrounding countryside bordering the river Tarun was flooded- just shows the power of nature.

Although the river Tarun is just 100 meters from the Brittany holiday cottages we are never in any danger of flooding ourselves as the garden is some 5 meters above the river and the cottages an additional 2 meters above that! In addition there is a lot of surrounding land that will take excess water before it ever got close to reaching our place.

Thankfully unlike the UK the French don't build properties on flood planes - it's times like this that we think about all those poor people currently suffering in the UK with flood waters and we hope they get their lives back together as soon as possible.

La Forge is available to rent all year where as La Veille Maison is available from the May half term until the start of September.

Short term stays at the Brittany holiday cottage with private heated pool

Last weekend at La Forge we had our second short term stay at the Brittany holiday cottage with private heated pool. The guest enjoying our discounted short stay rates..

The guest stayed for 3 days on a house hunting trip to the region during which I sat down with them and shared all my experiences of buying a property in France and running a holiday cottage.

The guest had arranged to view 4 properties in the Morbihan region during there stay and have now left to move further south.

They both commented that they had experienced the same problem I had in that the estate agents had not provided an accurate description of the properties and felt in some cases it was a wasted trip.

I told them I had experienced exactly the same in 2005 when I came over to house hunt in that I had booked to see 6 properties in 5 different regions of France to come away falling in love thankfully with La Forge and La Veille Maison and felt very disappointed with 4 others.

Of the 6 it was a toss up between La Forge -La Veille Maison and a property with a lake in the Charente region of France- in hindsight I now know I purchased the right property.

The trip in 2005 cost over £1500 and during which I chalked up over 1600 miles, it is with this in mind that I now offer a house viewing service for potential buyers in that for a small charge I'll go and view a property on there behalf, take loads of pictures, videos and the like to enable people to make a better decision  before coming to France to view a house.

The rates we charge during the low season at the Brittany holiday cottage are extremely low in that we only charge £120 for a 2 night stay or £50 per night for longer. Once you hit 5 nights we just charge £225 for up to 7 nights.

As I said the guest who just left were our second house hunting guest this year staying at the cottage, as we had another couple stay in January for 9 nights. Our next guest arrive on 19th February for a 4 night stay.
